Good Day Bad Day
Well let's get the bad out of the way, Mike's (One Speed's) Ironhead has a locked up transmission. He was driving to work and it seized up on him. He was lucky in that he was only in second and wasn't full speed when the back tire locked up and laid a stripe 20 feet long. I had the day off and loaded the truck to go get him off the side of the road. Now the good, we got the XS400 battery mounted, the exhaust tabs welded, the electrical switches and key mounted and VRRRROOOMMM it started right up (well after 20 or so kicks). I still need to finish the wiring and get a gasket for the exhaust flange. After that I get to chase the charging problem it was having last year and I'll be good to go. I will update with pics tomorrow night.

Face-Lift For My Dakota
OK so here is what I want to do. I have a 1995 Dodge Dakota 2WD with the xtra cab. I have been wanting to kind of rat it out, well as much as you can rat out a '95 Dakota. I want the basic flat black paint (spray bomb), paint the interior trim (don't know what to do with the cloth on the doors?), take off all the trim and Dodge ID's, cover the seats (they are red cloth) and do a 2" front and 4" rear drop like the pics below. The truck rust wise is in great condition and has had new upper and lower ball joints, exhaust, tires, water pump and is getting a new radiator before winter. I paid $1200 for it 2 years ago and figure if I am keeping it for another 2 it's going to be the way I want it. What do you think????
This is what the truck looks like but it's not mine.

The Ironhead Is Finally Running
Well last night we finally figured out why Mike's Harley was running like shit, the chain was grabbing a loose piece of fender. One of the side covers on the fender had come loose and was occasionally catching the chain and causing a vibration when you were braking. We also think it was grabbing when you were accelerating also. Anyway it's RUNNING WOOHOO. Here is a link to Mike's Blog and a pic of said Ironhead.

Motorcycle Junkyard
I like/hate the pictures of motorcycle junk yards or just old neglected bikes. It's like they are speaking to me....."Homebrew save us.....chop ussss....ride us". Everytime I see a picture like this, first I wish I could find a place like this so I can take them home, then I realize someone else beat me too it and if I ever did find one I probably wouldn't have any money in which to purchase said motorcycle anyways.

Motorcycles Waiting For Their Turn
I have a couple of other bikes laying around waiting for their turn to be chopped, hacked, beat on, customized. The first one is a 70's Kawasaki KZ440 I got it for free off a friend. The engine is seized and the carbs are missing. When NHMike gave my wife the 1969 CB750 for her chop, I gave him this because he said he always thought about a cafe style, boy did he lose out on that deal huh.
I also have a '74 Kawasaki KE175 I picked up for $75 about a year ago. I had the same style bike as a 15y.o. though it was a '73. I have always missed it and have been looking for one to work on. This one has no compression so it will have to be torn down.
At one point for a couple of years it was an ice racer so I think I want to paint a bike going into the corner on the ice on the sides of the tanks with some slogan kind of like this. And I will keep this stock or stockish.

Inspiration
It's ALIVE!
Finally got the minibike going. I had to swap out the carb and play with the kill switch. Goes pretty good for a 5hp with my 215lbs on it, never mind with another 40lbs that my son adds in this video. If I come across a snowthrower with an 8hp I will swap it out and put the 5hp on the thrower. HAHAHAHA

Brain Food 2 Going To A Rain Date
From Eastern Boarders web site:
The weather for Sunday looks iffy at best and since some of you were planning on traveling pretty far to get here, i thought it would be best to just plan on a different day. The NEW DATE IS SUNDAY JUNE 27th. Call with questions 978 777 5650
Unfortunately I won't be able to make the new date as I have plans but I wanted to post it so everyone else knows.

Shit Started Rolling In
So Tuesday night I got home to find the 2 new tires for the minibike waiting for me and last night I got the chain. Of course my son was telling me to put them on right away so I did. As I was trying to pry the old tire off the front rim I looked down and said "shit they are split rims". So I got my socket set took them apart, repainted the rim and put the new tire on. It was done alot easier than I thought thanks to the old style rims. My 5 year old always wants to be around with me in the garage and is willing to help with anything, but this is "his" bike so he was taking the wrenches out of my hands so he could do it, so I let him.
Here he is wrenching on his minibike.
And here he is practicing his surfing on the roller with new tires.
And of course after the chain went on we tried to start it and now it won't run without pushing the prime button so I will be figuring that out tonight, MAN we all wanted to take it up the street.
Trying to start it.
After it didn't start the "brain trust" (A.K.A Mike,Ande and me)trying to figure out what the problem is. HAHAHA BTW thanks for the help guys.

Holding Pattern
Yup that's what I am in right now. I have to wait for the following, chain for the minibike due today, tires for the same due tomorrow, gas for the welder due Friday. Of course the big one is the gas for the welder because without it there is no mounting my battery, key switch, turn signal switches or the one tab I need to complete my exhaust. My wife wants her CB750 to get started and all I can do is cut some of the frame off but I can't start welding because of.......well you get the idea. I have a lawn mower for a friend that I have to work on but just can't get in the mood to do it because I can't do what I WANT to do. Anyway sorry for the rant I will have lots of updates later this week once shit starts coming in.

My Pictures
XS 400 Exhaust
Alright I made up my mind on what I was going to do with the pipes I welded up, I taped them. I chose this over the chrome powder for the same reasons as usual, it was free and I hate chrome. I had the tape laying around left over from when I did them originally and after I did them this time there was maybe 8" left so no waste. Anyway here they are.

Minibike Update
Mike, Ande and myself were out screwing around with the bikes and started messing with the new minibike. My son wanted it painted with this blue candy paint I had I explained how it's really supposed to go over another color (he's 5 years old) and he picked up a nice silver. So I did silver with blue candy and when the blue ran out we did red over the rest, kinda fitting colors for Memorial day. We also remounted the seat on some diamond plate, painted the bars and forks and installed a motor I had on a snowthrower. I need new tires and a clutch and chain for the engine.
