Now Serving Number 35

Sorry but that's how it is in my garage, one bike finishes the next goes up on the bench. My wife's 1969 CB750 is the next one. She has been cleaning up parts for about 6 months now, this winter she had the girder and tires in the livingroom for a good part of the winter, the girder is still under the bed hahahaha. I will update with some pics as we go along but I don't want to steal her thunder as she has her own blog HERE. I liked these pics with her in a Troy Fabrication tee (Steve's a good guy that makes quality parts, check him out) while she was grinding the frame down to get ready for the hardtail.

Putting Some Miles On

Well I finally got to put some miles on the past 3 weeks. The first one my truck brakes locked up and I rode the bike for 7 days and put 300 miles on it. Then we did my wife's charity run for 160 miles plus the odd trips I took. Then this weekend we took the bikes to Alburgh Vt. which was 523 miles round trip plus the ride we took on Sunday. Man my ass was hurting when we got home yesterday, makes me happy I have the small peanut tank on the Sporty and had to stop every 70 or so miles for gas and a stretch. Had a nice relaxing time on Lake Champlain with our friends drinking beers and talking about guns.

RIP's Run

Well the charity ride I went on was great this year. It is for my wife's non-profit she started 3 years ago. We had about 35 bikes and the guy that sets up the actual course for the run, Russ, outdid himself this year. We went around what felt like every lake and mountain road in the Winnipesauke area. Then back to the Hawg's Pen for some brews and a great live blues band from either Concord or Manchester. Here's some pics of the ride.

Updated Pics Of The XS 400

Alright, this is how she sits now and I don't see anymore physical changes that will be done. Mike and myself added the camera bag/ electrics box, side mount plate light, temporarily stole his side bag off the Ironhead, mounted switch plates under the gas tank and made a brake stay out of a piece of red painted metal I had laying around. I thought it added a touch of color so I left it red. After I fix the exhaust leak I will get a video of it running.
My Xian Leather seat.

The XS 400 Is a Runner

The middle of last week Mike and myself redid all the wiring and cut out quite a bit of excess, hooked up the blinks, tail and head light. Then the wiring started smoking...HAHAHAHA Oh well. So we started the bike just to hear it run, man the new exhaust sounds sweet and will only sound better when I fix the slight leak at the head. I went out on Saturday and fixed the wiring problem (all on the side Mike did, HAHA) got all the lights going and started it again just to hear it and to make the garage stink from the pipe wrap smoking,MMMMMmmmmmm good. This week/weekend I will get a gasket for the exhaust and then I will have to start figuring out why it's not charging the battery, or I should say it wasn't last year. But while we were doing the wiring we found some questionable connections so hopefully that fixed it and there won't be any issues. Here is a pic of it just to remind you what it looks like and once I get batteries in my camera I will have some new one and a video of it running.

RIP's Run

There will be a charity ride for Rest In Peace, a non-profit organization dedicated to helping those in need of financial assistance for funeral services. It is on July 11th, 8:45 registration/breakfast and 10:00 ride, with a rain date of July 18th.
-$15 per driver and $7 per passenger registration fee
-Registration will include free breakfast, donated by the Infamous Hawg's Pen Cafe
-Breakfast will include scrambled eggs, bacon, home fries, toast and coffee.
-the ride will start and end at the Hawg's Pen Rt. 11 Farmington, NH, with live music at the end.
-There will be a 50/50 raffle and other giveaways from local businesses.
The ride last year was around 120 miles through NH and Me. The route was a nice scenic one with road speed limits averaging around 45mph. There will be a stop around half way for fuel/bathroom/snack.
Come join us and help a neighbor in need.

This bike just looks like it's in motion to me even when it's sitting still.

Too Damn Hot

It's been over 90 degrees for the last 3 days and it's going to be for the next three too. I am not a heat lover and would rather be in the garage working on the bikes when it's zero outside than 95 and humid. So needless to say nothing has gotten done on the XS in the past couple days as the air conditioned livingroom has been to hard to leave. I will however probably... maybe... get out there tonight as I want to get the wiring done and maybe ride it at my wife's charity ride on Sunday.

XS400 Pictures

All right here are the pics I promised the other day of the work that was done to the XS so far.
The new side mount battery.

The new bend in the kicker to get around the exhaust.

The LED blinkers, thanks Mike. They are the white dots inside the sissy bar.

And the blinker lit. Damn they are bright.
